4 inches

Posted

Early this morning I heard the snow plows out. So you guessed it it snowed last night. When I walked the dog this morning there were probably a good 4 inches. Not much for this area. It really was nice and beautiful with no wind. I think they are predicting another 4 or so tomorrow then the real cold sets in. I think the low on Wednesday or Thursday is in the negative. Yea!!!

Moving with Animals

Posted

Let me start off by saying that all you people that move with animals all the time, my hat goes off to you. This is our first move with a dog and boy have we learned alot. Of course everything about this move was hard. Things would have been much easier had we had somewhere to move into when we got here. But I guess the pains will be worth it when I am in that 2300sq ft house on post.

Along the way we stayed at several Drury Inn's. I can not complain a bit about them. The pets were welcomed and their breakfast and evening beverages were a nice addition, not to mention the two that had indoor/outdoor swimming pools gave the boys a chance to swim outside while it was snowing.

We stayed at a hotel in Watertown for a few days with the animals then took them to a Kennel and we moved to the Army lodge on post. Again I can't complain about the Army Lodge but the cost associated with Kenneling the animals was killing us. So we moved to a furnished apartment. I have to say that most of you reading this wouldn't be caught dead in this apartment, but for us it is a financial necessity. You do what you have to do.

We are scheduled to move our stuff into our rental house on the 11th of January. Wont' that be a wonderful day.

Finally a house to rent!!!!!

Posted

I woke up in a panic this morning about finding a house to rent. We made one call to Joan at NNY Homes and she had one to rent and we went to look at it this afternoon. The owners still have their stuff in it, they are currently relocating due to his job. We haven't signed a lease yet, but they want someone in it as quick as possible. It is located right outside of Carthage which is where we were hoping to find a house because of the schools.

Merry Christmas

Posted

Merry Christmas to all. We are enjoying our first Christmas at Fort Drum even though we are staying at the Fort Drum Inn. Dylan was awake at 7:00 waking Jason up by 7:30 to check things out. We finally had to wake Tyler up a few minutes later. After a pot of coffee was put on we were ripping thru presents like mad. It was fun and the kids haven't stopped playing yet. Dylan and Tyler are busy building Lego stuff and Jason and I are trying to figure out the best lay out for his Geo Trax. Terry is busy taking out the Trash... Since I can't seem to email pictures at the moment I will try to post a slide show.

First Impressions

Posted

Okay my first impression of Fort Drum/Watertown is WOW that is alot of snow. I can't even tell you how much snow there is. But I can safetly assume we won't see the ground before April. It is very pretty when it snows here. Lots of big flakes. Today the sun came out for the first time since we got here. It was very bright. Here are a couple of pictures of the boys sleding. I wish I had a good picture of the hill, it was a good hill and all three flew down it without a second thought.

Life in Kansas

Posted

Okay so I have been MIA for while. The week after Thanksgiving Terry went to Colorado Springs for a field trip for school and I was left at home with the kids and each one took turns being sick. Par for the course when your husband leaves.

That following weekend we held a Christmas party, and a belated Birthday for Jason. He turned 4 on the 28th of November. The packers came on Monday and our stuff was on a truck by Wednesday at 5:00pm. Since then we have been living in the Army Lodge on post. Today we moved to Great Wolf Lodge. Can I just say it is the coolest place ever. It has an indoor water park. Very cool.

Tonight (Monday)it is raining like cats and dogs and we expect it all to be ice in the morning. Just like when we moved here in January 07.

I will post pictures of all the events above this week if I can find time.
